Ayer, tuve el honor de ser recibido por, posiblemente, la persona más importante del país: el Primer Ministro, Mike Eman.

A pesar de la apretada agenda que el dirigente de un país pueda tener, Mike Eman atendió personalmente a mis correos y concertó un encuentro conmigo. Es una persona humilde, cercana y atenta. Según él me dijo, toqué su lado sensible hablándole de la Judería, puesto que el es Judío. El encuentro fue en el Parlamento de Aruba, en su despacho. Primero le expliqué el proyecto que estamos desarrollando desde Segovia en relación a la OCPM y UNESCO. Y después, le enseñé nuestra ciudad, por medio del material cedido por el Centro de Recepción de Visitantes de Segovia. Él no conocía mucho acerca del inmenso Patrimonio e historia que poseemos, por lo que le resultó muy interesante y llamativo. La verdad es que le gustó toda la ciudad, pero sin duda, lo que más le interesó fue la Judería. Mike está muy interesado en la cultura Judía y ha concedido muchas entrevistas hablando sobre el importante Patrimonio tangible e intangible que éstos han aportado a la isla. Es por ello, por lo que nuestra Judería le causó tanto interés. Me agradeció la reunión e invitó a colaborar en cualquier otro proyecto relacionado con Segovia.

Mike Eman lleva gobernando el país desde 2009, y finalizará este año su mandato, por lo que me confió que se tomaría unas vacaciones. ¿Qué mejor lugar para ello que nuestra tranquila Judería?

 

 

Yesterday, I have the distinct honor and privilege of meeting the First Minister of Aruba: Mike Eman.

In spite of his very fully agenda, Mike Eman answered personally my emails and arranged a meeting with me. He is a humble, close and attentive person. He told me that talking about our Juderia struck a chord on him because he is Jew. The meeting was in the Parliament of Aruba, in his personal office.

Firstly, I explained him the project we are developing in Segovia with the OCPM and UNESCO. Then, I showed him our city, thanks to all the guides and brochures that the Tourist Center of Segovia gave me. Mike didn´t know a lot about all the heritage and history we have in our city, so it was very interesting and striking for him. He liked all our city, but what was more attractive to him was our Judería. Mike Eman is very aware of the Jewish culture, and many times he had been interviewed for his knowledge about the Jewish heritage and contribution to the island. That´s why the Judería was so interesting to him.

He was very glad for the meeting and told me that he was in for any other project with Segovia.

Mike Eman is the First Minister of Aruba since 2009 and will finish his mandate on this year. He told me that is looking for going on vacation. Does it exist a better and peaceful place than the Juderia for that?
