No hay palabra perfecta para describir lo que fue pasear en globo por Segovia. Es una mezcla entre emoción, miedo, felicidad y vértigo. Este paseo no tiene comparación y les voy a contar por qué.

Hace unos ocho años viajé’ en globo por primera vez en la Savannah Africana por mi cumpleaños y vi paisajes que no podré olvidar jamás, aparte de ver tantos animalitos que me encantan. Dicho paseo fue realmente especial porque paramos en la mitad de la Savannah y desayunamos antes de volver. Siempre creí’ que los paseos eran en lugares así’, abiertos y sin edificios hasta que llegué’ a Segovia.

DSC_0152Solo me podía imaginar lo que era ver la Catedral, Acueducto y Alcázar desde lo alto hasta que por fin lo hice. La comparación a mi anterior experiencia se queda corta ya que aquí no vives solo la experiencia de subirte en el globo si no también de poder ver estas vistas tan perfectas y apreciar cuan duradera es aún la arquitectura romana. DSC_0180.jpgel sol y ves todos los colores del cielo ir cambiando. Tuve suerte al haber tenido un día despejado.

Los primeros 70 metros causan la gran impresión, pasada esa cantidad ya da casi igual el miedo de estar tan alto, nosotros subimos hasta un kilómetro de alto. Ese día no había casi viento por lo cual no nos movimos tanto y para mí eso fue una suerte ya que pude ver durante toda la hora la mágica ciudad amurallada que tanto me encanta.

Cuando el paseo terminó nos contaron la historia de los primeros en subirse a un globo y crearlo en 1783. Los hermanos Montgolfier, no solo inventaron lo que es hoy el globo si no también crearon la tradición de festejar el paseo con una botella de Champagne. El paseo en sí no puede estar mejor organizado y espero que puedan hacerlo pronto. Si tienen la misma suerte que yo verán los paisajes de mis fotos y les llevarán Christian y Víctor, dos señores simpatiquísimos que estoy segura harán de su experiencia una inolvidable como la mía.

There is no perfect word to describe my balloon ride around Segovia. It’s a mixture of excitement, fear, happiness and vertigo. This trip has no point of comparison and I’d like to tell you why.

About eight years ago I went on my first balloon ride in the African Savannah. I did this for my birthday and saw sights of places and animals I’ll never forget. This trip was incredibly special because we stopped in the middle of nowhere for brunch before we came back. Exciting, isn’t it? Since then I thought balloon rides always happened in open areas far away from cities until I got to Segovia.

I could only imagine what it was like to see the Cathedral, Aqueduct and Alcazar from the skies until I was finally able to do so. This second experience was so different since I didn’t only enjoy the balloon ride but was able to see such perfect sights and admire the extremely long lasting Roman architecture from above. The trip begins at a very Spanish time, much later than the usual that is before the sun is out so you see all the sky colour changes. I was very lucky since the sky was completely clear.

DSC_0220The first 76 yards above the ground are very impressive. However, past that altitude, there’s not much change in terms of fright and excitement. We reached a little over half a mile in height. The day I went it wasn’t very windy, which turned out great for me because it meant we didn’t move so much and I was able to enjoy the magical sights of the walled city I so dearly love.DSC_0247

As soon as the flight was over, Christian and Victor told us the story of the first humans to come up with the idea of flying in a balloon in 1783, the Montgolfier brothers. The Montgolfier brothers not only came up with the idea of the balloon rides but also came up with traditions to follow when you do. They took a bottle of Champagne to finish the
