La primera vez que entré a la Casa de la Moneda fue para una presentación de clase de árabe. Era el momento de hacer las presentaciones finales de los proyectos y a mi profesora se le ocurrió hacer uso de lo que en ese entonces era el “nuevo campus” o nueva área del IE. Hasta ese día solo sabía por el nombre del lugar que ahí se hicieron una vez las monedas que se usaban como dinero en aquellos entonces.

La Real Casa de la Moneda fue construida en 1550 y desde ahí se han hecho distintas cosas en su área. El rey Felipe II fue quién ordenó a Juan de Herrera por primera vez que se necesitaba una nueva técnica para acuñar monedas a rodillo. Fue ahí, en la mismísima propiedad de la corona dónde existió uno de los primeros edificios de arquitectura industrial de no solo España, pero toda Europa.

Mi universidad ocupa parte de los edificios con el propósito de promover innovación en la región de Segovia. Desde esa primera vez que fui, mi universidad ha modernizado el edificio por dentro y es ahora la nueva casa de los eventos. Todos los eventos a los que he asistido ahí han sido mejores que en la misma universidad ya que es un espacio nuevo, innovador, grande y distribuido en modo tal que es agradable estar.

Al haber sido desarrollado con la Sociedad de Artes, es toda una experiencia acudir a eventos ahí. Hay un cuarto con exposición de arte, área para estar entre compañeros, para hacer clases de danza, música y sobre todo un ambiente de “diversión educativa” que es más difícil encontrar en la misma área dónde tomo clases. Les invito a ir y descubrir el área de IE y la zona antigua donde se realizan también divinas visitas guiadas.

 

 

The first time I went to the Real Casa de la Moneda was for an Arabic class presentation. It was the time of the year of final presentations of our projects and my teacher thought it was a good idea to use what was then the “new campus” or new IE area. Until then, I only knew because of the name of the place that coin money was made there back in the day.

Casa de la Moneda was built in 1550 and since then different things have been happening in the area. King Phillip II was who ordered Juan de Herrera to build it to begin minting coins with a roller (new technique). Said property was the first building of industrial architecture of Spain and one of the first in Europe.

Casa de la Moneda hosts my university in a part with the purpose of promoting innovation and developing entrepreneurial mindsets in the region of Segovia. Since the first time I went there, IE has modernized the site from the inside and is now the new house of events. Every event I’ve assisted to there has been even better than the ones at IE Segovia itself because it’s a new space which is innovative, big and distributed so well it’s very nice to hang out in.

Since IE developed it with the Art Society it’s a whole experience to attend events there. There’s a room where art is constantly exposed, areas for hanging out with your classmates, for dance classes, music and more than anything areas for “educational fun” that is harder to find in the very same place where we attend lessons at.
