La casa de la moneda, y el área alrededor de esta, tienen que ser, sin duda alguna, de mis lugares preferidos de la ciudad de Segovia. La combinación de patrimonio con las vistas y la naturaleza hacen que este lugar sea un sitio ideal para descansar o desconectar.

El sitio como tal cuenta con diferentes edificios con sus propias actividades. Tienes por un lado el Museo de la Moneda, el cual explica y demuestra la importancia que tuvo Segovia en la “industria” de producción de monedas. Nunca había visitado un museo de la moneda y me pareció algo muy interesante de observar y de conocer. Vale mucho la pena, sobre todo ver la maquinaria y los cuartos empleados para la producción de esta. La economía siendo una de las materias que estudio en la carrera, esta visita al museo ha sido algo que ha complementado mucho mis estudios de una forma externa a la clase.

Por otro lado, el IE cuenta con instalaciones donde tiene su Centro de Creatividad. Estas le proporcionan a los estudiantes un espacio agradable donde desarrollar actividades extracurriculares como la música, talleres de pintura, exposiciones de obras de estudiantes, talleres de yoga, danza, al igual que áreas de estudio o simplemente para pasar el rato. Dentro de estos, hay salas de proyección para poner películas, salas de juego tanto vídeo juegos como mesas de billar, o simplemente sofás para sentarse a platicar. Pero dentro de lo que más me gusta de este lugar es el “Area 31”. Un cuarto de estudio con una fachada “moderna” con paredes cubiertas de pasto sintético y bancos hechos con troncos de madera. Da a este espacio un aspecto muy verde que ayuda mucho a crear un ambiente agradable para estudiar.

Pero lo que más me gusta de este lugar, es salirme al “parque” que está justo enfrente y sentarme junto al río a leer. Hay algo en el estar al aire libre que simplemente congenia con leer. Es un espacio muy agradable para pasar la tarde. Esta actividad y este espacio será sin duda algo que echaré de menos el próximo año en Madrid.

 

Segovia’s Casa de la moneda, and the areas surrounding it, are without a doubt one of my favorite places in the Area 31city. The combination of its heritage with the views and the interaction with nature makes it an ideal place to disconnect and rest after a long day of classes.

The place as such has a variety of buildings, each with its own things to do. One the one hand, you have the Coin Museum. In it, one can learn about the importance that Segovia had in the coin production industry. I had never before been to a coin museum and it is something that I found very interesting to get to know. For me, the best part of it was learning about how the different machinery and rooms were used in the production of it. As a student of economics, this museum has very appropriately complemented my studies.

On the other hand, IE has facilities within the Casa de la Moneda for it’s Creativity Center. This place provides students with a very enjoyable space to do extracurricular activities such as music, dance and painting workshops, yoga, expose their artwork, as well as study rooms or ares to simply go and hang out in. Within these rooms, there are projection rooms to play movies, game rooms with everything from board games, video games, a pool table of a mini-football table. But out of all the rooms, the one I enjoy the most is what is known as «Area 31». This is a study room with a very «modern», «green» feel to it with synthetic grass on the floor and walls, and log benches and tables. This green room gives the traditional, boring study room some freshness.

But perhaps what I like the most about Casa de la Moneda is sitting in the park near it to read by the river. There is just something about being outdoors that goes so well with reading. This place is without a doubt something I will miss from Segovia next year.
